AVX to Attend & Announce New Products at EDS 2015

FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. (April 28, 2015) – AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of passive components and interconnect solutions, is attending the 2015 Electronic Distribution Show (EDS), which will take place May 12 – 15 at The Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. At the event, AVX will introduce four new products, meet with its various sales and distribution partners, and attend the 2015 ECN Impact Awards as a finalist in the Passive Components and Discrete Semiconductors category.

The premier annual event for the international electronic distribution industry, EDS hosts approximately 5,000 individuals representing more than 80% of the industry each year. Participants include electronic distributors, suppliers who provide distributors with an array of value-added equipment and services in addition to electronic products, and manufacturers of passive, electromechanical, and interconnect components, instruments, datacom products, active components, and accessories. The emphasis at EDS is on forging and maintaining business relationships through scheduled, one-on-one meetings, but the event is also filled with important product announcements and exhibits, educational programs, and networking opportunities.

AVX product introductions currently slated for EDS 2015 include:

  • High voltage, automotive grade, radial leaded MLCCs that provide maximum mechanical stress relief and excellent high current handling capabilities with minimal power losses in a variety of automotive, hybrid automotive, and power applications;
  • Glass encapsulated multilayer varistors that provide bi-directional over-voltage protection and EMI/RFI attenuation in a single SMT package, as well as exhibit high current and energy handling capabilities in a broad range of harsh automotive, commercial, industrial, and professional applications;
  • Rugged, high reliability, single contact insulation displacement connectors with plated through hole terminations that meet demanding cost vs. performance objectives in industrial control, SSL, smart grid, medical, and transportation applications;
  • And ultra-miniature vertical poke-home wire-to-board contacts that provide maximum electrical and mechanical performance for light industrial applications, such as display case and under cabinet SSL products with lower current and shorter runs, switches, lighting strips, and motion, pressure, and temperature sensors, amongst several others.

While at EDS, AVX will also attend the second annual ECN Impact Awards ceremony as a finalist in the Passive Components and Discrete Semiconductors category for its AT Series high temperature MLCCs, which are rated for an industry-leading 250°C and provide high-reliability, long lifetime performance in demanding automotive, avionics, aerospace, and energy applications. The ECN Impact Awards seek to honor the best and most innovative products, services, and companies in the design engineering industry, and winners will be announced at a reception spanning 5:00 – 7:00pm on Wednesday, May 13, 2015.

“EDS is a unique event that allows us to engage with all of the players in the electronic distribution industry — including CEOs, presidents, VPs, sales managers, distributor managers, sales reps, and trade media — all under one roof,” said Ron Demcko, AVX Fellow. “It’s important to maintain open lines of communication with all of our channel partners to achieve optimum success, and EDS provides us with an opportunity to provide them with important updates about our technology, strategy, and vision; to introduce them to some of our newest products; and to learn what challenges our distributors, suppliers, and sales reps are facing, as well as the strategies they’re currently employing, so we can develop effective solutions and align our efforts for greater success.”
